COVID-19 Info

To say the times are unprecedented and confusing is an understatement. The Hummingbird family realizes the flow of information is fluid, and the virus continues to evolve. Please be assured we are staying up to date on recent developments by monitoring the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and the New Mexico Health Department.

As a children’s camp, we take creating a clean and safe environment for our campers seriously. The safety and health of our camp community are of utmost concern. There are several measures we are implementing to prevent the spread of the virus and protect all of our campers, teachers, and staff.

Effective immediately, here are the COVID-19 related accommodations and policies we’re implementing to ensure a successful summer.

Weeks 1 and 2 are cancelled. If you were registered for week 1 or 2 and can attend a different week, you will have top priority to register for the week(s) of your choice. Camp opens June 14, 2020, and the summer session closes August 1, 2020

Chess Camp will be week three (3) only, Sunday, June 14 – Saturday, June 20.

Music  and Art Camp will be held every week, Sunday, June 14, through Saturday, August 1, 2020 (Weeks 3 – 9).

We are in communication with our local Health Department and take our instructions and direction from them.

For 62 years we have actively taken great care to examine and modify our arrival screening, health response procedures, and safety preparedness. For the 2020 summer, we have implemented the following changes:

  • CAMPERS ARRIVE Sunday to register in the Gallery from 2:00 to 4:30 P.M. Staffers, CIT’s and Counselors need to arrive by 10:45 for orientation and training.
  • CAMPERS DEPART Saturday and need to be picked up between 4:00 and 5:00 pm.
  • CONCERTS and RECITALS will be recorded both with video and audio as well as viewed on social media. When social distancing restrictions are lifted, we will resume our regular concert schedule.
  • We adjusted our cleaning procedures to include the specific anti-viral measures as required by our local Health Department. Furthermore, Saturday evening and Sunday morning are now reserved for the staff to thoroughly disinfect camp.
  • We are committed to regular updates about our plans, policies, and new protective and reactive procedures. Please check the website for updates the week prior to your week(s) of camp.

HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP: We ask for your partnership to control the spread of communicable diseases by monitoring your children’s health and respond responsibly.

In the event you or someone in your home has a cough or fever, or has recently traveled to impacted regions, or been exposed to someone with the virus, please stay home and recover.

Thank you for your partnership in keeping Hummingbird Music, Art, and Chess camp a safe and healthy environment.
