• Announcing a Hornswoggle concert, Sunday, May 28!

Hard to believe that Hummingbird’s 2017 Music Camp season starts in JUST TWO WEEKS! And on May 28, as the first week campers are arriving, we will be treated to a free concert performed by Hornswoggle musicians!

Hornswoggle is a three-day, two-night workshop held at Hummingbird Music Camp prior to the start of our regular music camp. Begun in 1980 by hornist Elliott Higgins, founder of the International Horn Competition of America, Hornswoggle has connected the horn community through fellowship and learning. Since Elliott’s passing in 2014, many horn players lamented the end of this cherished tradition. But this year, Hornswoggle returns, hosted by Ericha and Karl Kemm, hornist and former camper.

The people in attendance make Hornswoggle what it is. Young horn players find themselves with professional players that in any other setting would be intimidating. Other three-day workshops often feel hectic, but the casual, interactive atmosphere of Hornswoggle allows more time to reflect, converse and make friends.

Enrollment for Hornswoggle is underway for the upcoming weekend of Memorial Day, May 26 through 28, 2017. Visit hornswoggle.org for registration and more information.
