Hummingbird Retreat Center

Hummingbird Music Camp Retreat Center was founded by K.L. and Wanda Higgins in 1959 as a place for a quiet getaway without interference. It is nestled in the Jemez Mountains, where nature and solitude inspire creativity and relaxation.

The Jemez River runs through the camp, providing beautiful scenery and excellent fly or stream fishing. There are a variety of hiking trails within and around the camp where you can take a leisurely stroll or a more strenuous walk up the sides of the surrounding mountains. Les Higgins, the camp director, will guide your group on a hike or tell stories around a campfire to add to your retreat experience.

There are three separate campuses from which to choose: South Campus, North Campus and the Beehive. Accommodations differ among the campuses, and which you choose will depend upon the needs and the size of your group. Large and small meeting rooms abound both indoors and out of doors, and Hummingbird will provide tables, chairs, sound equipment, and instruments if you need them. We staff a full service kitchen with a menu that gives a variety of meal and diet choices is available to serve your group.
